History tram and trolleybus

On the so-called “night of museums” in 2014 in Nizhny Novgorod we were in trolley Museum or more precisely of electrotransport. This little-known attraction is located near the center (at the depot number 1), but, even so, getting there is not easy. We heard from one woman some interesting information, it seems that she is a tour guide which was in the territory not specially. She had talked about trams and about the trolley buses.
The story is such, first trolleybus routes was launched only in the middle of the XX century. Estimate, the difference between the appearance of the tram and trolleybus in Nizhny Novgorod over 50 years. Several experienced drivers of buses were sent to study in Moscow, the case was unfamiliar and responsibly. One of these drivers later became the Director of depot. And these reliable people transported passengers only from Gorky square to square of Minin. As I understand it, Gorky square was then called as “1 May”, what we can be seen on the exhibit-trolleybus. The story was enticing, and we wanted to get into the Museum of history of tram and trolleybus, already with tickets, to use excursion.
Not on purpose, we climbed into the modern tram which standing on real rails. The instrument panel impresses by the number of switches and analog devices. Back to the “history” – now everything is clear, that’s lever – just pull.

Approximate management process tram:the driver raise the pantograph (“arc”) and connects the wagon, gradually turning the handle of the controller or by pressing on the pedal gives on traction engines more and more current, and the tram accelerates. On reaching the desired speed, the driver sets the handle of the controller to the zero position, the current is switched off and the wagon is driving coasting. For braking the controller is installed in the brake position.
